From Clare Castle Country Park we firstly walk about 3 miles east along the valley floor of the River Stour to the village of Pentlow. We cross the Stour into Cavendish, with a short stop on the Green, and then climb to the shoulder on the north side of the valley, returning to Clare along the Stour Valley Path. There are excellent views of the countryside throughout the walk.
Refreshments available in Cavendish during a short stop. Platform One café available in the Park after the walk. Group can be split into a faster and slower group so walkers can feel comfortable with the pace. Weekend car parking charges £5 all day.

This lovely walk alongside the two largest tidal river estuaries in Suffolk will not fail to impress you! We'll meander alongside the Erwarton Bay RSPB reserve up to Erwarton St Mary's Church. Bypassing the wonderful Erwarton Hall with it's gatehouse 'folly' we continue across fields to Shotley St Mary's Church, stopping at the two Commonwealth War cemeteries. We return along the banks of the River Orwell, Shotley Marshes and Shotley Marina. The views across to Felixstowe Docks and the Port of Harwich are simply breathtaking!
Church visits optional. There are three Shotley pubs open for walkers. The HMS Ganges Museum in Shotley Marina is also open. Car parking £FREE
