Now enjoying retirement, Lesley Dolphin was a presenter on BBC Radio Suffolk since the station launched in 1990.
Lesley is a keen walker and has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. In 2014 she walked the full coastline of Suffolk in just 24 hours!
We have been very proud to have Lesley as the Patron of the Suffolk Walking Festival.
David Falk (Festival Director) with Lesley Dolphin
“I’m so proud to have been the Patron of The Suffolk Walking Festival because it’s an event that truly celebrates our lovely county. There is no better way of getting up close and personal with the beautiful countryside and history of Suffolk.
Every year David Falk and his team have put together a cracking programme of walks. They have taken place in every bit of the county from West Stow to Walberswick and from Dedham Vale to the Waveney Valley. You’d find guided walks on your doorstep, in our towns and villages, and in the heart of the countryside, all discovering our Suffolk wildernesses.
During each festival you could learn about our Viking history, celebrate the magic of trees, discover secrets on Orford Ness, hear about Suffolk’s fascinating archaeology, meet amazing walk leaders from communities across Suffolk, and make friends as you walk and talk.
There has simply been no better way to explore Suffolk!”

The Suffolk Walking Festival could never happen without the generosity of so many. Thank you to all our walk leaders, many of whom give up their time voluntarily and put in so much effort creating the festival programme.
Thank you also to BBC Radio Suffolk and The Suffolk Magazine for spreading the word about the festival since it started in 2008.
And thank you to Suffolk’s local authorities who have generously supported the festival over the years.
